NBC's schedule for the 2008-09 TV season has been announced, and here's the big news: Friday Night Lights has been renewed (13 eps will air beginning in January following a fall run on DirecTV's The 101)

Those of you who visit our Forum knew last week that Friday Night Lights has been renewed for a third season after our own Extra Extraordinaire was told by her casting company that she would be working again. Yesterday, Kyle also confirmed this GREAT news in a radio interview with Terry Gross of NPR's Fresh Air. I wil post a link to that interview on the Forum under "The Latest Buzz" as soon as it becomes available on the NPR website. CONGRATULATIONS FOLKS! Clear Eyes * Full Hearts * Can't Lose!!!  |

There's no deal... yet.
That's what my sources over at the Peacock are telling me in response to a Deadline Hollywood Daily story claiming NBC has picked up Friday Night Lights after partnering with DirecTV. That said, the buzz is that an agreement has been reached and is essentially just awaiting a signature. To which I say, Ohymygodthankyoujesus! What would an NBC/DirecTV combo look like? I'm not 100 percent certain, but I'm guessing it would be similar to the Law & Order: CI deal NBC brokered with USA, only in this case, FNL would first air on an exclusive DirecTV channel followed by an encore broadcast on NBC. |

4 weeks ago we had the scoop that Universal will release Friday Night Lights - The 2nd Season on DVD very soon, on April 22nd. This morning, the studio has confirmed that release date with their official announcement. Yes, fans will get to enjoy these discs pretty soon, if for no other reason than to help drum up more support for the show (which is finding it very difficult to get renewed). As with the first season, the cost for this 4-DVD set will be a staggeringly low $29.98 SRP! Video will be Anamorphic Widescreen (1.78:1), audio is listed as English - Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, and there are going to be English SDH subtitles present as well. Box art isn't available just yet, but here is a complete list of the extras announced for this release:
